The Brief:
Investigate the relationship between identity and fashion through a research-led project, developing primary research skills, visual semiotics understanding, and data storytelling. The outcome was to be presented as an exhibition piece alongside a research poster, with a strong conceptual and visual impact.

The Concept:
Nude Awakening: The Nipple as Fashion’s Ultimate Accessory reimagines the female nipple as a symbol of empowerment, challenging societal taboos and embracing natural anatomy. Influenced by 90s Vogue and feminist discourse, our installation confronted the cultural stigma surrounding visible nipples in fashion.

The Outcome:
We created a mirrored torso installation adorned with hand-painted nipples representing individuality and body autonomy. The body was collaged from old Vogue magazine nude bodies , symbolising collective identity, while printed quotes amplified voices often silenced in mainstream fashion. Our A2 research poster visualised findings and methodology, combining semiotic analysis, gallery case studies, and primary research.
